Today at Barcelona, Mobile World Congress 2010, two companies, Intel and Nokia announced joint project called MeeGo, blend of Intel's Moblin and Nokia's Maemo.
This new llinux platform for mobile devices is expected to be available in Q2 2010 with first devices running this OS. New project web site www.meego.com is already available online.
It will support Qt which will make porting applications easier to new platform. We expect that future Maemo 6 will be MeeGo compatibile, so stay tuned.
Now it is official as Firefox was announced for Maemo plaftorm. Firefox is the only mobile web browser that supports add-ons (life is just not complete without AdBlock plus ). The list of features also includes:
Awesome bar – Go to your favorite sites in just a couple of keystrokes with intelligent and personalized searching
Weave Sync – Sync your Firefox tabs, history, bookmarks and passwords between your desktop and mobile device for a seamless browsing experience

Available in more than 30 languages and counting

We are eager to see how Maemo will do in the future, as it has great potential.
It is another happy day for Maemo 5 users. Nokia has released the first major update for the Nokia N900. Some of the most important fixes include Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 support and solved problems with bluetooth handsfree. Complete changelog can be found here. More info here.

Tracy and Matt have published on their blog really interesting Nokia N900 unboxing video. All that they have received is the large black plastic monolith with minu USB connector. Puzzle for real geeks. Inside there is a brand new Nokia N900 with Linux Maemo OS and accessories. Although excelent OS comming from Nokia, in next year rumors are that there is only one additional Maemo device that we can expect. Soon more on N900.
Nokia just announced new model available at Q2/2009. Besides dual slider and 8MP goodness with dual LED and AutoFocus user interface stays pretty much the same. N86 will be Ovi-capable. Ovi Stor is an application store that blends media with social networking and location-based services, akin to Google’s Latitude application.
