Although we feel that all netbooks should have integrated GPS, it is not the case and even the expensive ones sometimes lack this feature. In front of us is the new netbook from Mio – P520G. With no moving parts whatsoever it is the perfect quiet companion for travel or car use. Integrated GPS is a must and this model is equipped with it. Slot for SIM card is under the battery and 3G modem is an option. It is a pitty that LAN port is missing. Model is available in black, blue, brown and white.

The specs follow:

  • Intel Atom N270 CPU @1.6GHz
  • 1GB DDR2 RAM
  • LCD 8.9" WSVGA resolution (1024×600 pixels)
  • Webcam, Bluetooth, WiFi, 3G (optional)
  • Integrated GPS receiver
  • 3-cell battery
  • 890 grams
  • Windows XP Home

We have received shiny new and improved Samsung I8000 Omnia II with Windows Mobile 6.5 and Samsung TouchWiz 2.0. It feels very fast with 800Mhz CPU, and large AMOLED display with better resolution than previus one. Now there is also an audio 3.5mm jack. We do not like the cover for microUSB socket, and maybe too conventional design.OmniaII_front

Enjoy the screen shots of new phone and operating system.

First GPS application for  turn-by-turn navigation has appeared for iPhone. Full navigation software and maps are installed on the phone, so there is no need for massive data traffic and expensive data tarifs. Aplication is available at the App Stores in Europe and North America, but soon it will be available for other markets. We didn’t have opportunity to test it but video preview is available at
