Google has released new version of SkyMap application for Android phones, maybe just to mark two decades of Hubble telescope in space, this month?
With Google Sky Map for your Android phone you can discover and browse the night sky just by pointing your phone to space, and now also see images from Hubble telescope
By using your Android phone's orientation sensors, you can see a star map above your current location or explore planets, stars and constellations.
Great use of Android phone sensors to learn something new.
Motorola's new Android smartphone is ready to hit the streets in a few days. It will be available exclusively for Verizon Wireless, and it looks like it will have some rather interesting features. Most prominent of them is certainly slide-out four-row QWERTY keyboard with raised keys. We can only guess how comfortable it will be for prolonged typing, but having numeric keys in their separate row is pretty sweet. Also, there is in-browser support for Flash, and MOTOBLUR interface (aka Blur), with improved integration with social networks (you can simultaneously monitor updates from more than one network, and, also, simultaneously post on them). Lets not forget Google Maps navigation with turn-by-turn voice instructions, and Motorola Phone Portal, very interesting application for browsing your phone's content from your home computer via Wi-Fi.
Other than that, device is packed with Android 1.6, Qualcomm's 600MHz processor, HVGA screen, and 3MP camera.
You can watch demo of Devour, presented by Rick Osterloh from Motorola:
Memory: 512MB ROM, 256MB RAM, expandable via microSD cards (up to 32GB)
Camera: 5MP, Auto Focus, LED flash
GSM: Quad-band GSM support, triband 3G with HSDPA and HSUPA
OS: Windows Mobile 6.5
Battery: 1350mAh Li-Ion, up to 5 hours of talk time, up to 400 hours of standby
Other: GPS receiver, accelerometer, light sensor, proximity sensor, FM radio with RDS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth + Enhanced Data Rate, miniUSB, 3.5mm stereo audio jack
We bring you the exclusive preview of the new Nav N Go software for Android phones. iGO GPS navigation software for Windows Mobile and iPhone was among our favorites. Now IGO Amigo is available for Android platform as well. It works offline, so no high price data transfers while roaming !
As you can see, the user interface is simple and intuitive, and the program uses g-sensor to rotate the screen contents when needed. The real power is in the extensive POI database, so we may finally advice anyone who hesitated – Android platform just got richer for another great application. At this moment, iGO Amigo supports 320×480 resolution (HVGA). Check out the gallery of screenshots.
We have tested another smartphone. This time, it's all about style and speed. For a full review, go here. Have you tried it / do you own it? What do you think about it?

While we wait for the final HTC HD2 ROM to appear (16. october 2009), lets have another quick look at the test sample in action. General impression is -- HD2 is fast! Even with many programs in the background it completes every task flawlessly. We are eager for the final ROM and new version of TouchFLO 3D (or HTC Sense UI as it is now called).
Update: There has been an interest in photo quality. Here is one taken with our test HD2 model.

Uveiling of Windows Mobile 6.5 will give us the opportunity to see wonderful new devices on the market – starting tomorrow. On of the most anticipated is of course HTC Leo, and according to our trusted sources, HTC Leo will be officially announced on www.htc.com tomorrow (6. october 2009.). However, this will not be the launch date for Leo, and we’ll have to wait until the end of october/start of november. That of course doesn’t mean that ai.rs readers will have to wait that long. We will have extensive video review during the following weekend.
