While we wait for the final HTC HD2 ROM to appear (16. october 2009), lets have another quick look at the test sample in action. General impression is -- HD2 is fast! Even with many programs in the background it completes every task flawlessly. We are eager for the final ROM and new version of TouchFLO 3D (or HTC Sense UI as it is now called).
Update: There has been an interest in photo quality. Here is one taken with our test HD2 model.

Cool!
It looks really really fast..
Could you tell me how the battery time is compared to the Touch Diamond 2?
October 11th, 2009 at 7:52 pm
@zik – battery life is worse than TD2 but better than TD1. That means max 2 days with normal use…

@alresha – mobile operators and stores … soon …
@Dee – this is the sample version of HD2 – it does not have Digital Compass app, but we’ll see when the final ROM comes out, our guess is YES…

Translated: Does anyone know when will SenseUI be available for Magic ? Is it based on Donut ?
October 11th, 2009 at 10:13 pm
@nedjo – it is not certain if/when magic will get Sense UI, let’s hope for the good news soon…
October 11th, 2009 at 11:33 pm
All looks good, but how is the quality when you make a phone call?
Is it crisp enough. Some phones can really sound annoying.
October 12th, 2009 at 12:06 am
Battery life is worse than TD2 -hmm that is not so good news… I get less than one day on my TD2 with moderate to heavy usage
October 12th, 2009 at 1:46 am
@nedjo Strangly the Magic is already shipping with the Sense UI….in Brazil! http://www.mobiletechworld.com/2009/09/22/htc-magic-shipping-with-sense-ui-in-brazil/
October 12th, 2009 at 8:30 am
@force – we have not had any voice related problems whatsoever, everything works just as it should.

Hi, I have found some camera samples of HD2, it looks terrible! So I am very curious about samples from your device, when you said it is better than TD2…

@Dino – Post is now updated, check out the photo (even if it maybe looks outdoor it is taken indoor). It is a lousy weather here now…
October 12th, 2009 at 12:26 pm
Photo quality looks busted in the current ROMs it seems (I get better quality with a HTC Touch HD). BTW Msav, did you set the image quality to superfine/fine in the camera menu (I think it’s set to default/normal until the user changes it himself)
October 12th, 2009 at 1:23 pm
@Pilou – you are right – it was set on fine, check out updated post for superfine as well… not much different though…
October 12th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
Thanks for posting camera sample and hope the final ROM will improve quality or it would be a shame for top-class device and I would not buy it……
October 12th, 2009 at 4:22 pm
@msav you’re welcome
My opnion:
-it will be improved with future roms that’s for sure (as I said a Touch HD takes better pictures)
-picture is taken in low light environement (so is would look like ass even with a good camera). So you can try pictures outside (and tweak the exposition and ISO settings)
-try taking the same picture at lower MPx (2 or 3) it should come out better.
-Hopefulle the plastic cover infornt of the lens isn’t messing thinks up (like on the original Diamond, pictures were always blue and blurry)
cheers

October 13th, 2009 at 10:37 am

Hey there!
@ msav:
In your video you shut down (stand-by) the device via a special menu from htc. But that seems like a 2-click thing. On my Omnia I i do my stuff and press the power button after that to send the device to sleep.
Is there something similar on the HD? One click -> sleep?
October 17th, 2009 at 5:44 pm
could you test trials of Skyscape medical software on the device and take a screenshot of the layout. Would be much appreciated.
October 18th, 2009 at 11:27 pm
Please let us know when you find out about a CDMA version
October 19th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
@vulture – after long press on the End key you get a menu. Since there is no dedicated power button, it needed to be multifunctional.
October 21st, 2009 at 3:41 pm
In which applications does the landscape keyboard work with the current ROM. For which applications do you expect the landscape keyboard to be available with the next ROM? Thanks for your help!
