What’s so strange about it? looks like a black iphone with crappy operating system.
August 16th, 2009 at 1:16 am
oh yeah…and flash content…way better mobile web browsers etc.

Looks? It doesn’t look like iPhone. iPhone looks like htc. Because htc made those phones many years before Apple. Apple have more promotion and simplicity. But htc have more oportunities and its not a mainstream. But its many times better than iPhone. I don’t hate iPhone (because I havn’t one
), I just analyze and think before buying new phone. I don’t buy phone because its cool and ost people wants it. I buy it because its good and have lots of features.

Only if Apple would take some notes. Put keys on the front of the phone so when the sreen quites working you can still receive phone calls. And make it so you can replace the battery yourself,not intrgrated.

Biostu, how old are you? 8? Control your fanboyism even though your kind, Apple Fantards, are the most mentally incapable people that exist on this planet.
Wish your Lord Steve would tell all of you to jump off a bridge with your iPods and iPhones in hand because you dumbasses would.
Frakking Apple Troll.

any body other specifics?
August 17th, 2009 at 8:40 pm
uhm…a windows mobile 6.5 and a capacitive display….this is very strange. Only windows 7 will be “ready” for the capacitive display. It’s not so accurate for the WM6.5…..you sure that you are not wrong??

4.3″ of high-res display while still smaller than the TG01 and no doubt with an updated TouchFLO interface. – sounds like a winning combo to me. I’m 6′ 5″ with hands to suit, so the comparable size might be just perfect for me!
For the Apple fans calling the Leo an iPhone clone, there was a smartphone market long before Apple decided they wanted to play. The market and technology have developed hand-in-hand. Yes, Apple accelerated the development with a nice product, but they better not get too comfortable, because their latest effort in the 3GS was disappointing. I was seriously considering buying the 3GS until I found out it had the same display as the 3G.
The modern smart-phone is all about three things: display, flexibility and ease of use (including industrial design). IMHO, Apple is not so far ahead anymore in the usability department, was never in the competition in the flexibility department, and has fallen well behind on their displays.

@aXe:
I agree that a bigger display with an overall acceptable device size is really compelling. But Sceptic has a point: 1230 mAh for that beast? I don’t think it will stand a day with ActiveSync running, not mentioning gaming or heavy browsing on wifi. And, isn’t that what a good, nice, big display for? HTC seems still not getting it!
By the way, what’s wrong with iPhone 3G’s display (and look overall) that you needed changed in 3Gs? Apple does that all the time, and it’s a winner decision (just look at the macbooks).
I’d go for a higher resolution display in the first place, not just for iPhone, but for Android devices, like G1 or Hero, too.. I mean, it’s year 2009 and your flag device on Android, namely Hero sports a 360×480 display? What the hell?
(But of course, it’s just me)

@vygantas – As you know, even official pictures found on sites are often high quality renders. The ones you can see in this post are not
We’ll see what will the HTC Leo be named when it gets out, we did not make up this picture or the text on the back.
@fucc – So far we have not been wrong. But, until we have the device in our hands, we cannot be 100% certain.
We have brought to you:
1) first specs of the Sapphire (Magic)
2) first screen shots of Diamond 2
3) first screen shots of Touch Pro 2
4) first video reviews of new Acers
5) first renders of Mio Amber
6) first specs of the Leo
7) fist accurate renders of the Leo
So, give us a benefit of the doubt and stay tuned for more

actually, the camera is 8 megapixel…not 5. lot of functions and features than I phone.
August 23rd, 2009 at 9:08 pm
Will this be a GSM or CDMA phone ? Please tell us its for the U.S. and not just for everyone else but the U.S. like the Touch HD was.
September 2nd, 2009 at 4:59 pm
HTC is always slow to provide high-end cameras for thier handsets. 5 megapixel, thats dated.. man. 8 megapixel would at least be good as other venders are already producing 12 megapixel cams for thier devices.
I really hope this model will be equipt with an 8MP cam as there is conflicting specs on what the device actually will have when released. (5MP or 8MP)
Other than that the device is spectacular and this design render is cool. I hope it’s close to the real final product as I have seen the ROM for WM6.5 running Touch Flo 3D. 2.6 intended for the HTC Leo release, which shows a start-up animation of a guideline on how to insert the sim card of the back face of this exact render above.

@Mercedx64
You should know that a phone with a lot of mpixels doesn’t allways have better pictures, sony ericssons do have 12mpixel but doesn’t have really nice colordepth in it. the technology supports loads of mpixels but leaves the rest of the picture quality behind. I suppose HTC prefers quality (just like me) and drops the 12mpixels. (btw wtf do you need with 12mpixels :S a full hd tv only has 2mpixels)
I love this phone, and i can’t wait for it to be in stores.
I think this phone is true, because they’ve updated the diamond > diamond 2 after a year, and the touch hd came out in Q4 of 2008. so it looks reliable to me.
Hope it releases soon (my other phone gave up hope

@G=32BL
Unfortunately, HTC has never made a device with decent camera. Let’s hope that things will change with Leo.
September 3rd, 2009 at 1:17 pm
@G=32BL I see your reasoning and it’s true some devices even with 5MP cams produce good quality pics with color depth and good environment lighting.
But HTC needs to add just a little quality with good designed cameras rather than always going for the cost effective route. I must admit with my Touch Diamond and with a little registry tweeking here and there & config, the cam can produce sharp images especially with good lighting. I hope the Leo has a good quality cam by default. Two LED flashes should hopefully make a difference in poor lighting areas other than the HTC Universal, which did no justice.
I’m also in love with this phone hehe…& can’t wait for the release as i missed out on the Touch HD
@msav – I second that!

For those wondering about the 1 GHz and only 1350 mAh battery: Snapdragon is built differently than previous gen CPUs and is much more efficient, testing shows that increased clock speed on more efficient CPUs does not have an adverse affect on battery life.

LEO IS AN IDEAL PHONE FOR ALL WINDOWS LOVERS. THE PRICE SHOULD NOT BE MORE THAN USD $400 FOR POOR & VILLAGER`S CUSTOMER.
September 7th, 2009 at 5:38 am
I myself have a iPhone 3GS and I am seriously thinking about dropping it when the Leo comes out, the specs are better the look is better, let’s just hope all of this comes true.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:53 pm

Is it not enough to show the real pictures under 480*800 resolution?
September 14th, 2009 at 12:00 pm
@giovanni
From multiple sources it has been said that the HTC Leo will be realsed in October by HTC, then shortly after, stores should start receiving the device at least around the end of Nov or between Dec-Jan 2010.
Let’s hope that there are no delays

I have been looking hard at WinMo phones recently and concluded that my ideal device would be the Toshiba TG01 but made by HTC – voilà the Leo.
Can’t wait – actually, I literally can’t wait – will either go for the Touch Pro 2 or the Touch HD shortly. However still wanting to check out the Samsung WM handsets.
BTW recent convert from iPhone 3g used for a year – love it (especially apps and media) but not enough under the hood for me.
WinMo might be a pain and dated but at least it is “open” and fun to fiddle with??
Cheers Nick

HTC LEO will be the next hype in WINDOWS MOBILE PHONES…
Htc sure is better in terms of user experience in all respects….On the other hand apple iphone may have changed the way we see a mobile phone today,but in terms of everyday usability and navigation as well as user experience,,HTC ROCKS!!!
its the best!!
BIG SCREEN,Capacitive screen,,PLENTY OF MULTIMEDIA AND BUSINESS FEATURES and nice designs and use interfaces makes HTC win in all heights!

HTC may be good, but I will never ever buy a mobile running Windows Mobile. No more WM, I’m fed up. I don’t believe that MS is capable of making a mobile OS, not even with 1000 programmers. After they lisenced out ActiveSync everything else is better. I want Leo with Android, even Symbian4 would be better than WM. I wish MS would remove WM from the world so the producers could concentrate on making good phone.
September 19th, 2009 at 5:16 pm
@ Bonavox,
Sure. WM itself is not the perfect tool. I do agree. But you’d be a fool to keep WM alone with no software addon to deal with the WM interface. What HTC did on WM is a great job (I upgraded my HTC HD to Touch Flow 2.6 to see) but what did PointUI and SPB Mobile Shell is even greater to me. I personnaly use PointUI with a PointSense Theme that transforms WM on Android like and it’s simply great. In this way, WM can make the deal.
But that supposes to be a geek (in terms of patience, not in terms of difficulties that much) in order to configure the stuff, I have to admit.
To conclude, I do agree, it would be great if HTC could give us the choice wether we want WM or Android. It would be a lot simpler. Why don’t they do this ?
September 20th, 2009 at 2:25 pm
Seriously, anything above 4-6 megapixel in such a small device is useless – the bottleneck is the quality of the optics and the sensor, not the amount of pixels… the more megapixels they try to get from that little thing, the grainer and more worthless pictures it will produce – unless you stand on the sun itself for lighting…
